Frequently Asked Questions

What does CopyForge do?

CopyForge is a clipboard manager that lives in your menu bar. It automatically saves everything you copy — text and images — and lets you search, filter, and reuse your clipboard history. It also includes smart text actions, reusable snippets, and workspace organization.

How do I open CopyForge?

Click the scissors icon in your menu bar, or press Cmd+Shift+V from anywhere. You can also use Cmd+1 through Cmd+9 for quick paste of recent items.

Is my clipboard data secure?

Yes. CopyForge supports AES-256-GCM encryption for stored clipboard data, with the encryption key stored in your macOS Keychain. Additionally, Privacy Guard can automatically filter out sensitive data like OTP codes, IBANs, credit card numbers, and long tokens.

What are Smart Actions?

Smart Actions let you transform clipboard text on the fly. Available transformations include: uppercase, lowercase, JSON formatting, URL extraction, email extraction, and more. Right-click any clip to access them.

What are Workspaces?

Workspaces let you organize clips into separate groups for different projects. For example, you might have "Work", "Personal", and "Side Project" workspaces. Switch between them with Cmd+Shift+P.

Does CopyForge collect any data?

No. CopyForge makes zero network requests. It does not collect any analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or personal data. Everything stays on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What about the App Blacklist?

You can configure CopyForge to ignore clipboard content from specific apps. This is useful for password managers or banking apps. Add app bundle IDs in Settings > Privacy > App Blacklist.

Can I auto-delete old clips?

Yes. Go to Settings > General and choose an auto-delete period: 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days. Pinned clips are never auto-deleted.

What macOS versions are supported?

CopyForge requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Is CopyForge available in my language?

CopyForge is available in 20 languages: English, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Slovak, Swedish, Danish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Chinese (Simplified), and Chinese (Traditional).

I found a bug. How do I report it?
